The Bronx Through Time
PS 320, Bronx
Collection of the NYC Department of Education, Public Art for Public Schools
Commissioned by the NYC Department of Education, NYC School Construction Authority Public Art for Public Schools program, in collaboration with NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Percent for Art program.
““The Bronx Through Time”, celebrates the Bronx River’s presence, with a multi-colored, dancing river of migrating Monarch butterflies, uniting two scenes: The first is an energetic cityscape floating in a vibrant space, and the second scene is of an aerial view of the Bronx River at Hunts Point - where it meets the East River. Emphasizing the cyclical nature of time are the canoes, the waters of the Bronx River, and butterflies, hinting to the deep histories of migration and movement of both humans and animals.”
